Hello, I'm Laura. I'm a UK based Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with 10 years of experience working in mental health care. I am fully accredited with the leading CBT organisation in the UK; the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). You can confirm my status with the BABCP here.
I provide 1:1 CBT for adults over 18 years of age experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, OCD and post-traumatic stress.
I've successfully worked with individuals with emetophobia whilst working as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist within the NHS. I understand that suffering with emetophobia can mean you may have endured a great many years struggling against powerful feelings of anxiety, panic, depression and frustration. I will always treat you with respect and take what you have to say seriously. Emetophobia can be helped, and even if you do not pursue therapy through this service, please scroll through the 'other links' section of this website to find out what other information and self-help is out there.
I look forward to working with you,
Laura Cocks, BSc (Hons.) PGCert PGDip. BABCP Accr. EMDR Practitioner
Hi, I'm Richard. I'm the founder of CBT for Emetophobia. I began CBT for Emetophobia back in May 2015 and have since worked successfully using CBT with many individuals with emetophobia.
I would ask any prospective client whether you are working with Laura Cocks or an alternate CBT therapist to consider your expectations of therapy sessions before starting (i.e is your expectation to have zero anxiety about sickness? Which unfortunately may not occur) as my philosophy of working with emetophobia has been to try and turn the phobia into a fear. With the difference being a fear will not interfere with how one lives their life, but rather be something that can be tolerated as opposed to eliminated.
I am currently undergoing a three year training programme (due to complete September 2020) and as such am unable to work with any new clients at this present time.
I wish you all of the best in managing this phobia for the future,
Richard Pione, BSc (Hons.) PGCert PGDip. EMDR Therapist
